Attention! The Health Hero Scholarship is now live! In conjunction with OneBlood, West Orange HS SGA is awarding a total of $4,000 in scholarships to honorable students to aid their future at any post-secondary institution. Any West Orange HS Senior that donated blood at one of West Orange High School's blood drives this school year or last, has at least an unweighted 2.5GPA, and has been accepted into a college, university, or technical school is eligible to apply! Governor DeSantis issued Executive Order 20-212, extending the deadline for students graduating in the 2019-20 school year to earn the minimum qualifying SAT or ACT score to earn a Bright Futures scholarship until December 1, 2020.

The Hispanic Heritage Month Essay Contest is open to all 4th to 12th-grade students in Florida. Each student may submit one essay no longer than 500 words based on this year’s theme by the deadline of Friday, September 25th.The winner will receive a 4-Year Florida College Plan scholarship provided by the Florida Prepaid College Foundation. Although it is not a requirement to graduate, community service hours are required for the Bright Futures Scholarship and are a positive addition to college applications. The community service process will be the same as last year. Click here to for more information and to download plan instructions. All students will need to complete a new form(s) for the current year. All summer community service hours need to be turned in to Student Services ASAP.
The Danniel J. Petro Scholarships in Partnership with the West Orange Foundation
This scholarship opportunity is provided through the West Orange Foundation, Inc. (WOF) and administrated by the West Orange Chamber of Commerce (WOCC). The scholarship fund was established to make it possible for eligible students from local high schools to further their education at Valencia College (any campus), Orange Technical College, or the University of Central Florida. The West Orange Foundation is able to fund the scholarships through the generous contributions of the Petro Family Foundation.
In order to qualify eligible senior students must:
-have a current GPA of 2.75 (either weighted or unweighted)
-apply to attend either Valencia, UCF or Orange Technical Colleges
Up to several student recipients may be awarded $1000 scholarships; the number of recipients will be dependent upon the amount of money available in the scholarship fund at the time of the award. Two student recipients will be awarded $2500 scholarships from the Petro Family Foundation.
