Click here to learn about the West Orange High School Warrior Band. West Orange has a wide variety of classes to offer students. We feature four concert bands, three Jazz Bands, Marching Band, and Percussion. The traditional band classes are two freshman bands and two upperclassman Bands. There is a freshman jazz band, as well as two upperclassman jazz ensembles that are chosen by open auditions. Everyone is a part of the marching band, and everyone in marching band is in a band class!
The WOHS Band is selling red Poinsettias, 8 inch with 7-10 blooms, as a holiday fundraiser. They are $15 each and orders are being taken through November 13th. Order yours here: WOHS Band Poinsettias Pay. Enter in a band student’s name to receive credit towards band fees or just enter Band for the general fund. These high quality flowers are great for holiday decorating. The flowers will be delivered to WOHS on December 3 and will be distributed to you then. The West Orange Warrior Marching Band had a fabulous trip to London for the New Year's Day parade. More pictures and videos can be found on the PTSO Facebook page.
I wanted to share with you all how wonderful the bands and orchestras performed at their Music Performance Assessments this past Thursday – Saturday. All three of our concert bands earned a Superior rating. In Orange County, we were one of only four schools to take three or more concert bands and earn a superior with each.
The Orchestras did well also. Our Concert Orchestra earned an Excellent rating and our Symphonic Orchestra earned a Superior rating. West Orange was one of only seven schools in OCPS to have an orchestra earn a Superior rating!
Please congratulate your band and orchestra students for a job well done. Thank you all for your continued support,
Kenneth A. Boyd
Director of Bands & Orchestra
