Congratulations to West Orange High School choral director, Dr. Jeffery Redding, for being named the Recording Academy/Grammy Music Educator of the Year! CBS This Morning made the announcement this week.
The WOHS Choir Family is a united group of students, parents, teachers and administrators working toward our goal of “Building Passion and Purpose through Music”. The Choir Program is open to all students with consideration to grade level, balance of choral parts and class size. The Choir Department of WOHS believes in “Unity” – “the state of being one”. We strive to form an inclusive environment where different backgrounds, cultures and experiences are respected and celebrated.
Our West Orange HS advanced choirs, Bel Canto and Concert Choir, experienced an incredible weekend as they participated in the Heritage Festival of Gold in Chicago. They performed at the Symphony Center, home to Chicago’s Symphony Orchestra, alongside choirs, bands, and orchestras from across the country, as well as from Japan. Their performances were rated and ranked, and highest scoring band, orchestra, and choir were selected to perform in an encore performance that same evening. Both Bel Canto and Concert Choir were featured that night as one of the top choirs in the festival. We are so honored to have shared the stage with the some of the world’s finest choral programs, and we are humbled to bring home the top honors.
